Stenciled Backgrounds

Hello again! I hope you’re having a great day. I’m so glad I can share another one of my projects with you.

Today’s cards are created with a stencil made with the Cricut. I wanted to make something simple and minimalistic, but at the same time versatile. I love designs that can be used for multiple occasion and hearts are one of those shapes that you can use all throughout the year.  While these cards are holiday cards, by switching out the sentiment and perhaps the little penguins (although they are super cute), the winter theme can become a Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, or Birthday card, to name a few.

I created my cards using two different methods. The first is a traditional stenciled background. One of my favorite techniques is ink blending. This is fun, quick, and easy. I used a not traditional color pallet of red and pinks and blended them to create a fade.

In the second example, I used the stencil as a positioning guide. I had my machine cutout identical hearts as in the stencil. Then I placed those hearts through the openings in my stencil and on to my card base. This gave me a very clean and precise look.

These cards were fun to make and I can see myself using these stencils for future projects. I can also see myself making other stencils with other spaces.

To see how I created this card, you can watch my video in two parts here:
