A Light-up Encouragement Card using the Recollections LED Light Up Kit

Hello Crafty Friends! This week I’m excited to bring you all a little product review along side a new card project. Many times in the crafting world I’ve seen products used by other creators and I thing, “Hmm, I don’t know about this. Should I try it?”

In most cases my curiosity wins out, but there are times when the investment into a new product outweighs the need to try it. This was the case with light up cards, until I came across the Recollections LED Light Up Kit from Michael’s. It was the price that drew my attention before anything else. It retails around $13 (not including the weekly coupon that is available). Compared to the much pricier competitor, this is a bargain.

The kit contains 23 piece which is enough to create at least 4 cards and more copper tape than you’ll possibly need. The materials are sturdy, the tape durable, and the lights bright when in use.

The place where the kit falls short is the directions. They can be a little confusing, but not impossible to figure out. There is a drawing of the general idea of how to put it together, but it is very generalized and needs to be customized to each individual project.

Overall, I think this kit is a great option for those wanting to try a light up kit without breaking the bank. I am so impressed by the results this kit brought to my cardmaking. It absolutely brought this card to another level, highlighting the lovely sky and making this card literally shine.

  1. This is really cool! I have an idea for a shadow box and your design is definitely transferable. Thanks!
