Day Three: Just Dies, No Stamps

Holiday Card Series

Today is Day 3 of my Holiday Series and I’m sharing a No Stamping card with a custom backgrounds. This is a fun way to use up scrap paper that you may have stashed or just to add a more custom color pallet to a project

I started off by making my background panel. I wanted to create a candy cane feel to the card, so I chose red and pinks tone as well as a white glitter cardstock. I lined each color of cardstock with a double sided adhesive. I like using double sided adhesive over glue because it’s less messy and doesn’t seep out from underneath my cardstock.

Once all my paper was lined, I cut it down into strips of .25 (1/4) inches and 0.125(1/8) inches. I quickly arranged a pattern for myself and began to adhere it to a piece of paper. I wanted my pattern to look as precise as I could, so I decided on a diagonal pattern used a spacer strip to keep the spacing consistent throughout my background.

I used the Dancin’ Snowman Etched die set from Spellbinders for this card. I coordinated my snowman colors with the background and die cut only the face and head elements of the snowman. Putting together this snowman was easy and rather fast once the pieces were all die cut.

I anchored the snowman on a scalloped circle so it wouldn’t get lost in the background and added a hot foiled “Happy Holiday” sentiment to complete the card.
